The Principals
Brian G. Begg
Brian Begg has 37 years experience in all aspects of his profession which encompasses development cost benefit analysis, cost planning, preparation of bills of quantities, implementation cost control and building life cycle cost analysis. His specialist fields of interest are project management planning and building economics coupled with long term cost effectiveness.
As a principal of Design Collaborative, he has been involved in separate project management roles throughout the Eastern Caribbean and been responsible for economic assessments within multi-disciplinary planning and implementation teams for projects in Trinidad, Barbados, St. Kitts and Dominica.
Robert O'Neal
Robert O'Neal has 36 years experience in all aspects of the architectural profession particularly in the areas of management, administration and control of development projects from inception to practical completion. In his six years as senior architect, Government of Barbados, he developed project management skills in the co-ordination of consultant/sub-consultant services and their inter-reaction with client and international aid agencies. He was project architect and consultant team leader for the Sherbourne Cultural Centre, a US $20 million multi-purpose conference/auditorium complex.
He is committed to the use of computer-aided draughting and computer technology in the provision of consultancy services. Since joining Design Collaborative as a partner he has been responsible for the CAD training and development programme instigated by the practice.
George W. Holder
George Holder has 30 years experience in the construction industry carrying out the role of Quantity Surveyor. This experience encompasses establishing budgets, cost planning, preparation of contract documents, cost control, negotiating final accounts, estimating and tendering, valuations, expert advice on arbitration and litigation with regards to contractual disputes and project management.
As a partner of Design Collaborative, George Holder takes the administrative position of leader when projects are large enough to support the role of Quantity Surveyor/Project leader, thus he takes the responsibility for coordinating and programming the work of the consulting team.
Brian Surfleet
Brian Surfleet has 39 years experience covering all stages of architectural services in many countries in the Caribbean. In recent years he has concentrated on residential projects including houses for individual clients or up-market community developments.
He has also completed several tourist related projects, commercial office developments and health sector related construction works.
Rather than offering one style of architecture or taking a rigid design approach to a project, he specializes in giving his clients what they want on time and within their budget.
What We Do
Design Collaborative has over the years developed and refined the services required to meet the increasing demands of clients in both the private and public sectors. The firm has established a proven track record in the delivery of consultancy services over a wide range of project types - low cost housing, commercial offices, retail/residential developments and institutional projects. The practices are owned entirely by their principals and are independent of any manufacturing or contracting company or government agency. The group therefore provides its clients with completely unbiased professional advice.
Design Collaborative offices have assumed responsibility for the planning of national, regional and community development plans and for a number of urban regeneration programmes. Our principals are experienced professionals with specialist experience in the field of tourism development and urban rehabilitation.
